Myth of Creativity

Myth of creativity, I only knew about this myth just recently. There are a few sayings that make people think creativity only came from talented people or geniuses. Unfortunately, this is not true as I will explain later why people think this way and how to change that mindset.

For most people, first thing that come in mind when asked about being creative is, it's hard or it's difficult.

Why is it hard?

Maybe because of age factor, their early education system or it can be both. Creativity is a domain of the young and to some extends it is true. Before we enter the world of education, our young mind always wondering and finding new things. After we enter the schools, our mind is being filled with information and knowledge on how to solve problems in specific orders. Because of this, people tend see only one solution to a question and making us a little bit less creative each time.

Another popular respond when asked is, I am not a creative person. Wrong, all of us were born creative and it is a nature birthright for everyone.

Born to be creative.

Most people don't even realize that they are being creative in their everyday life. Think about it, did you have the same style of dressing or the same hair style with everyone else around you?

If you did, it's merely a coincidence or you just happen to be twins and your parents force you to wear the same shirt and have the same hair style with your twins.

So, how to break this myth? Some people say that being creative is to think outside the box.

Think outside the box.

For me, to be creative is just by being stupid. You must not be afraid to ask a silly or a stupid question and remember; only a smart person can act stupid. You can also come up with an idea by sitting under the tree and brainstorming having strange ideas. Some people get their ideas by doing different things like read a lot of books, travels to many places and talk with different people.

Last word from me is, you don't need a brand new idea in order to be considered creative.

Bye.
